Reading With A Rapper continues to bring culture to the classroom by presenting its innovative academic program with a pop-up demonstration for 100+ 5th graders at College Park Elementary (Fulton County Schools) - Friday, February 21, 2020 from 12pm-2pm. College Park Elementary, led by Dr. Maisha N. Otway, invites RWAR and recording artist Protéjay to engage their students for a one-day experience that will engage their learners in highly effective ELA teaching strategies with an infusion of relevant lyrics. All while leveraging innovative technology the programing also seeks to optimistically changing their perspective on how young scholars learn and strengthen their literary skills.
HOW IT WORKS
Presentation
Our pop ups encompass a short version of the RWAR curriculum. Each event has an artist attached, where we incorporate their music into the presentation. Our instructor(s) lead the audience with an icebreaker followed by a challenge or game. We then host an actual “fast-track” simulation of the 8-week curriculum. During the presentation, participants are treated as if they are in the classroom and are going through the program. The audience will listen to the accompanied music through the wireless headphones, played by our house DJ, while following along with the instructor and answering questions as they are directed. - making it an interactive experience.
Q&A with Featured Artist
RWAR will bring in a surprised featured artist for a in depth Q&A , focusing on the artist role with RWAR and an explanation of their music and their take on the importance of education.
Closing
We allow more questions, provide information on where people can reach RWAR followed by photo opportunities with the artist and the RWAR team. ]
